Do you have a cable modem? If so, use an ethernet lead (which will plug into a laptop and 360 at the back, NOT USB, that won't work).

Firstly, disconnect the power from the ntl modem, wait five seconds and plug it back in. Then plug the other end of the ethernet cable into the Xbox 360. It'll connect once the ntl modem has finished connecting. :)

When you want to use the laptop, do the same again, disconnect the cable from the 360 and plug it into the laptop. Unplug the power from the modem then put it back in.

You have to do this because the modem isn't a router and cannot give a specific address to more than one device at a time, so you have to manually assign addresses by disconnecting the power and reconnecting it. :)
