Connecting Laptop to LCD TV

Can anyone tell me what leads i would require to connect my laptop (Acer Aspire 4920) to my Philips TV.

I would like to be able to shut lid shut on the laptop and still work on it but via the TV and wireless keyboard, basically like a docking station if possible?

Any advice much appreciated.
A VGA cable should be sufficient. They're pretty cheap.

You will need to configure the power options on your laptop to not go into standby when you shut the lid.

I recently bought this:

Nexos 2.4Ghz Wireless Multimedia Entertainment Keyboard with TouchPad - USB - Ebuyer

It runs on 2.4GHz which means the USB reciever does not need to have a 'direct' connection - it can be put anywhere (within a certain distance) - mine works through walls! not that its of any use.

Hope this helps.
