I'm trying to connect a pair of Elipson 4240 speakers to my hifi setup. The amp has standard 4mm outputs and the speakers have 6.35mm mono jack inputs. Can I use 2-core speaker cable terminated with banana plugs on the amp end, and a 6.35mm jack on the speaker end?

The thick cores of the speaker cable make soldering to a 6.35mm jack difficult, and I was considering a solderless fitting, such as this. But it looks like a poor quality choice. If anyone has experience to share I'd be really grateful.

Jack plugs are definitely a non-standard connection on a normal passive speaker. Are there no 4mm sockets at all on the speakers? Underneath a panel perhaps? If in doubt I would contact Epsilon (if they still exist) and clarify the connection method.
Out of interest how did you end up owning/choosing this combination?
