Connecting DVD player to TV thro Freeview box

Can I connect a DVD player to my freeview box, then connect the freeview box to my TV and the DVD player will play on my TV??

Also can Freeview work with a decent amplified portable aerial??

Never tried in regards to 1st question, I would imagine provided scart sockets on Freeview are in/out then it should do? As for Freeview on set top aerial, very unlikely, it would be a case of suck it and see.
