    Hi,

I hope somebody can help me. i currently have a panasonic all in one HT70 home cinema system.

i think its great and has given me several years good service, problem is it doesn't have an optical input so i cant connect my xbox to it. A friend at work is selling a Sony STR-KSL5 amp/receiver which has the optical inputs i need but i wanted to use my existing panasonic speakers with this amp. Problem is that the subwoofer connection on the sony amp is a single RCA connector (pic attached). My panny sub just has speaker wire connections (is that a passive sub) therefore how do i connect it to the sony amp

I had the same amp untill just before xmas. the amp does need an active sub not passive I believe, my amp came with all speakers ect, have you got the original sony sub with it, you could use this till you get sorted with what you want.

I thought the amp was very good for its budget and gave me 2 years of enjoyment.

i'm buying it 2nd hand and its just the amp. I have heard that it may be possible to connect the passive sub to same terminal as the front speakers, know anything about that?
