Apologies for the stupid question, but what is this eBay item for?

Does it allow you to connect a laptop computer to an amp? Would the connection go from the headphone socket on the laptop to the audio inputs on the hi-fi?

The reason I am asking is because the audio inputs on the amp are red and white, whereas on this item they are red and black. Also, my laptop hasn't got a sound card put I would like to be able to connect it to my amp the cheapest way possible.

If this doesn't do what I want, is there anything that does (not interested in Apple's Airport or anything at this stage, due to costs)?

    Thanks in advance.

sometimes maufacturers use black or white but there both the same. So long as red plugs into red the other one doesnt matter. You could plug it straight into your headphone socket on your laptop if it has one. If it hasnt then im not sure if you can buy usb soundcards maybe or usb/headphone adaptors. The lead your looking at on ebay looks really cheap which might affect the sound quality. Theres tons of different makes and qualitys though so its just a case of finding one your happy with. Im sure this would suit you
