I have connected a Toshiba SD340E DVD player to a Denon AVR-1705 receiver using component cables. My problem is when I play a DVD I can hear the sound but no picture.

I have used a S-Video cable to send the output from the receiver to my TV because it does not have any components inputs.

I have spent hours trying to figure out why but without any success. Has anyone got any ideas? By the way I am a newbie to AV.

I be very surprised if the reciever can convert the Component to S Video.

Most of the time it is the same format for both in and out (S Video in/S Video out).

I would just connect a scart lead to the TV using RGB.
