    Hi,

For the time being at least, when I move to a new house I will be playing my TV through my Hi Fi speakers via my Rega Brio amp. It has been suggested that I insert a Cyp Aud3-192 DAC between the optical output cable from the TV and the amp. However, gathering dust in the loft is a Mission Fidelity X-24K DAC which cost me £300 back in the day (which I mated to a very old Arcam CD player). I was going to sell this and other stuff before I move, but wonder whether it would actually perform better than the Cyp? Any views? Thanks.

TV audio is highly compressed lossy format (SD mpeg 1 layer 2, HD Dolby Digital aka AC3). I doubt it will make any difference at all (You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear :) )
