What would be the easiest way to connect to play old cassettes.
Front connections:-
Could I connect via head phone socket with 3.5mm to 6.5mm jack converter ?
3.5mm jack to USB lead ?
3.5mm to left & right audio phono only part of the front component connection ?

You would need a 3.5mm jack to RCA convertor and use one of the line in, not the phono, on the back of the Marantz. The Walkman is outputting an analogue signal. I'm not suggesting the linked cable it is just for advice.

What @gibbsy says, although I will add there's also a stereo RCA input behind the front flap you could use as well with the same cable.

Thanks for quick replies
I would prefer using the easier to get to front connections :)
Front has left & right audio (along with video)
Would the suggested lead above be connected using both Red & White RCA (Red for right white for left ? ) for stereo sound ?

Yes exactly that. You may need to check your hidden inputs and input assignments to use it.

Cheers
Yes there various inputs Aux1 Aux2 etc. on the remote.
Just wondering, can the headphone jack also be used as an input with an appropriate 3.5mm to Phone jack (6.5mm) converter ?
I know this is all basic stuff but I've been out of the AV scene for a lot of years and only recently getting time to reacquaint myself. Still got collections of LP's & cassettes so thank you for your patience :)

No the headphone jack is an output.
