Connect PS3 to pc instead of router?

I have read people mentioning that in order to get best streaming of HD material, the way to go is wired over wireless.

How do I connect my ps3 to my pc directly then?

I only have one ethernet port on the pc which goes to the router, so what do I need to do?

Or am I wrong in thinking that if my HTPC and PS£ are both connected to the same router, then it is already hardwired?

If the cable that comes from your PS3 goes directly to the router then you are wired

If you want your PS3 wired to your PC then you need to connect the PS3 to the same router the PC is connected to, but it sounds like you have no problem anyway so i'm not sure why you need to do that...
