My goal is to get a ~55" HDTV-ready TV and connect a PC to it. Ideally I'd like to do PIP and have a high enough resolution I can see the PC on one side and TV on another.

A TV shop recommended the Proscan TV with VGA input, but it didn't have line doubling and was not wide screen. They said it's possible to get 960x540 with the right equipment, but cautioned on getting it right with the right video card and refresh rates.

Any recommendations on TVs that would meet this objective, and tips or articles on how to connect a PC to a HDTV -- right connections, video card, refresh rate?

    Thanks.
