Does anybody know the best way to connect a PC to a Reciever?
I have connected from the sondcard line in to phono using a y cable, my reciever is the sony 1200es. The sound is low with a buzzing noise and does not give 5.1 sound.

You will need a sound card with optical, coaxial or analogue 5.1 out to get 5.1

    Something like this

Your low buzzing sound is possibly the volume on your PC is set too high. Try turning the PC volume down and the Amp volume up.

Are you sure that one will do it?

All sound cards will passthrough 5.1 audio on the optical and coax outputs from a DVD, but only cards with DTS connect or Dolby Digital Live will give you 5.1 from downloaded media or from PC games.
