    Hi folks,

I'm confused as 'ell at the moment and need your assistance with this.

Just got a Pioneer 433MXE with JS Tech RGB SCART-> YUV converter and a 3 Phono to 3 BNC cable (might be to short when panel eventually wallmounted).

Need to be able to connect:
Amstrad Sky Digi box (SCART RGB)
Pioneer 525 DVD player (SCART RGB)

Needs to be as easy as possible for the Wife to use, i.e. flicking from Sky to DVD, sound output from Sky box etc.

We have a Yamaha RXV1000RDS receiver for audio duties

    any assistance appreciated

    cheers
    Gary

Not familiar with the RXV1000RDS but if it has component switching then the easiest option is to purchase a second converter, connect both units to the amp via the converters then a component lead from amp to plasma.

If it doesn't have component switching then a JS Tech RGB->Plasma VGA will allow you to convert SCART RGB to the plasma's VGA input.

OK looking at the spec of your equipment.
Your DVD has Component out as well as RGB
Also your amp has 2 component inputs.

    Sooooo
Providing this is all the kit you have then I'd put the rgb to component convertor directly after your Sky box.
Then put the component from this and the component from your dvd player into your Amp (along with the respective audio connections).

Then take one Component lead from the amp to the Plasma

    Hope that makes sense
    Alex

    Thanks all,

Ivojo - can't really afford another converter :(

Alex - DVD player doesn't have component out (phonos or ortherwise) only has a scart connector

would daisy chaining the DVD->SKY->JSTech->Amp->Plasma work or even DVD->SKY->JSTech->Plasma for that matter

Forgot to mention that there maybe an XBox connected at some point too

    cheers

Unfortunately neither of these will work as well as you may hope. Neither digiboxes or the DVD player have RGB on the second SCART so at best you'll get a composite or s-video feed from whichever is last in line.

Having said that, it should work but you should think about upgrading to a second JS Tech box at some point in the future.

    Hi ivojo,

I was under the impression that the Digibox does RGB passthru?

Skybox has two SCARTS, whilst DVD players only has one. Had them daisychained DVD->SKY->RGB SCART on 32PF10, both configured to output RGB with an excellent picture.

    regards

I take it you don't have a video recorder of some kind looped into your digibox?
    If not it *may* work.
A scart switching box (fully wired for RGB) should also work. But it's not ideal as it won't automatically switch at the same time as your amp. Best to get an auto switching one that switches to 'last turned on'.

    Gary,

Looks like you have answered your own question!! :D

Why not keep the daisychain and input this into the RGB>YUV convertor then output into the plasma...

If you then want more RGB sources (i.e. Xbox) then you may need to look at an RGB switch box (Quinttro or similar) this would switch your RGB source and output it to the convertor which can then send onto the component in on the plasma...

Have a good old search on the forum too as this sort of question has been discussed quite a bit...

    Cheers

    JJ
