I have just got my PAnny Ae700, I have connected a component (red, blue green) cable from DVD (Toshiba) output to PJ input, no signal was detected.

I checked DVD output settings, it was set to RGB. This made the Scart to TV work just fine. However, as i said no signal to PJ.

I changed DVD output to S_video, hey presto PJ picks up a signal on the component cable, but TV goes black and white?

Is this right. If so have I wasted money getting a 10m component cable when I seem to be sending an S-Video signal?

    :lease:

    Hi

Many Toshiba DVD players can't output RGB and Component at the same time.

This is because the RGB and YPbPr pins are shared on the decoder chip.

You need to set your DVD player to either composite or S-Video and it will output component.

You can prove this to yourself by disconnecting either the Pb or Pr cables - the picture will change colour.

It would appear that your TV can't accept S-Video via SCART on the particular socket you have the DVD player plugged into.

Try a different socket, or even set the DVD player to composite. This will get you a (crappy) (but colour) picture on your TV and component to your projector.
