confused over memory upgrade to 4GB

Active Member
I have a HTPC with a total of 1gb of memory

The memory is Corsair XMS2-5400 675MHz, they call it 5400C4pro

I checked the Corsair site and it says PC4300(DDR2-533)

The Mboard's manual says DDR2 400 or DDR2 533 DIMMS and Support for 256 Mb and 512Mb DRAM densities.

The Mboard is DFI Lanparty 925x-T2
Pentium 4 Prescott processor, Hyper-Threading Technology, 800MT/s (200MHz) FSB, CMOS Reloaded, CPU Protection function, 1 x16 and 3 x1 PCI Express slots, 4 DDR2 dual channel, Karajan 8-channel audio, S/PDIF in/out, SATA with RAID, 1Gbps PCI Express LAN, 1Gbps PCI LAN, USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394.

So in a nut shell will this work ?

Play.com (UK) : Corsair XMS2 Pro Series PC6400 / 4GB / 800MHz / DDR2 / 240pin DIMM / Computer Memory : Computing - Free Delivery

I assume I can use 2 x 2GB ?

Oh .. I might plan to go to Windows 7 and also install a LG BD Drive :)

According to :

DFI LANPARTY 925X-T2 Motherboard

I think you can only put in it 4 x 1gb

# Four 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets
# Supports dual channel (128-bit wide) memory interface
# Supports up to 4GB system memory
# Supports DDR2 400 and DDR2 533 DIMMs
# Supports ECC (x8) or non-ECC x8 and x16 DIMMs
# Supports 256Mb and 512Mb DRAM densities
# Supports Performance Acceleration Technology (PAT2)
# Supports unbuffered DIMMs
