I purchased a 3803 on Saturday, I am impressed with the sound from my Def Techs (5.1 setup) however, I am a bit confused.

    Denon's website states:

Dolby Digital EX / DTS-ES and DTS 96/24 with 7ch Power Amps and Multi-room Flexibility

however, on reading the manual for setting up and looking at the front panel, there is no mention of Dolby Digital EX support anywhere.

So, what is the truth?? Please don't tell me that I have spent a lot of money on something that is not up to date !!!!!

Could other 3803 owners please shed some light on this

    Many Thanks

    Steve:smoke:

Chapter 16 details all the information you will need for DTS-ES and DTS-96/24 - look for the speaker setting examples (page)

I have not experienced DTS-ES as I think you need 6.1 speakers? But DTS 96/24 comes up when I play my Queen Greatest Hit 1 DVD, and it sound great.......... So don't worry.

    Hi,

thanks for the replies, I have read the info on DTS-ES, but there is no reference to Dolby Digital EX!!!

Could some expert out there please clarify - I have 10 days from purchase to take the box back (so it says on the receipt)

    Cheers

    Steve

Calm yourself Steve, the 3802 definately decodes Dolby Digital EX ,which I use into 6.1 so i'm absolutely certain that the 3803 will do likewise.

Yes it does decode Dolby EX as others have stated. You won't see it displayed on the screen until you connect Surround Back speakers and switch on the Matrix Processing. :)

Many thanks for all the feedback, I will stick with it as it does sound good - even at low levels (4 month old baby and a small house):smoke:
