I am helping a friend to replace his DVD recorder. He requires the recorder to be quiet, freesat and record from SKY hard drive. It has to record 3D blueray, HD and DVD with hard drive. Have looked at the Panasonic but it seems to be a noisy solution. Looking forward to your replies

Noisy? I have NEVER heard of that being an issue. Erroneous.

Apart from which - there is no other option available.
It is one of the Panasonic machines - or nothing.

Believe me my friend is very, very fussy about noise and has read that a certain Panasonic is noisy. He will chuck away clocks for being noisy and he a classical music teacher. Thanks for the links, it seems that there is a limited amount of hardware out there that would cater for his needs

Do you happen to know which model was being referred to?

The model I happen to use is so quiet I cannot use sound as an indication of whether the unit is functioning... and given that I run these boards I have never heard anyone make an issue of noise and many have specifically remarked how quiet they are.

Ambient sound is just not an issue with these machines.
