He's on about the difference between 41/51 models not b/bd models!

The difference between 41/51 models is design on the front of the unit only. (51 has more black on the front bottom bit)

the 51 models are made xclusively for the dixons/currys group the 41 is for everyone else.

Get the 41 as its cheaper!!

Sorry mate, but I disagree and am getting REALLY tired of posting this.

To the best of my knowledge (and I have researched this thoroughly) there ARE differences between the 41 and 51 models:

Did you speak to a representative from Samsung?

Where did you get your information from?

Do you have any proof to back up your claims?

Yes the B and BD models differ - the BD has freeview. But thats the difference between B and BD.

The difference between 41/51 is meant to be just cosmetic:

I've also spoken to him on the phone and he comes across as someone who knows his stuff ;)

This doesn't surprise me :) I really don't know what to believe any more!

In another thread someone e-mailed Samsung and they confirmed that the 41 series is 12ms whilst the 51 is 8ms:

I don't think there will ever be a definitive answer on this subject. Even Samsung can't agree!

Ultimately, the only think I'm positive about is that BOTH sets rock!

Well I can confirm that part of what Decadance states is wrong.

On my PIP (41 model) I can have HDMI (but I'll double check)

Whats a DVID? does he mean Dsub? which is basically VGA? (which it obviously has).

I'd be inclined to think he has been given the wrong info or misunderstood...

Agree that the line about having DVID is probably wrong. Not sure what decadence meant by that. As far as I am aware there are no differences between the 41/51 with regards to connections.

As for the PIP, HDMI is definitely an option on my LE26R51BD although I've not tested it.

Im 99% certain its on mine too as Im sure I've seen it say hdmi when I pressed the button by accident (ill have a look tomorro tho) and according to the manual the only ones its not avaiable in is PC or Freeview mode.

So I am fairly certain that there are no differences between the 41/51 models apart from design/front panel ;)

In regards to PIP, attached is the LExxRxx (note that Samsung use the same manual for the 41/51) manual, and it states the different PIP sources etc.

And I was under the impression that the 41 WAS classified as 12ms but was reclassified as 8ms not long ago?

edit: grrr upload keeps failing on me, so here is the direct link to it on Samsungs site Samsung LExxRxxB Manual - PDF

I've heard someone else mention this theory before. Something about Samsung changing the way they calculate the response time in order to make it appear better on paper. Have no idea if it is true or not though.

When all is said and done, 51 series owners (like myself) want to believe that they have a slighlty superior set whilst 41 series owners (like Raze) want to believe that both sets are identical. Seeing as no-one, and i mean no-one (not even Samsung), is able to provide a 100% definitive answer, I don't think this debate will ever be settled.

    Oh well.......

I've one e-mail from Samsung telling me the 41 and 51 are identical apart from cosmetic differences (but ignoring my specific question regarding response times) .
I've another e-mail from Samsung telling me the 41 response time is 16 ms.
A third e-mail merely asking for the response time of each model received the reply: "due to the nature of your query you should call our customer support line" on a UK number which I can't call from Ireland.

I still don't understand why Samsung can't just post the info on the specs page on their site.

Since I got a 41BD anyway yesterday: now that I have it, is there any way I can check the response time?

I'm just happy to know the difference between them what ever that was so I coul dmake a decision on buying it. But if you are talking about cut-down products then you'll find that dixons group normally get them!! Because they like to make more money lol remember the Toshiba Picture Frame TVs? Dixons group were selling a cut-down version! and for not far off the same price as the normal one :hiya: (sorry couldn't resist that smily!)

I think the reference to DVID means a DVI-D (or digital only version of the DVI port) you can also get a DVI-I which is both analogue and digital compatible IIRC

    regards
