I would like to build a Windows MCE PC and one of the main functions will be to use it as a PVR

What is the best choice in TV cards ?

I am confused as there do not appear to be any Digital Tuner cards with hardware PVR support. The only ones are the analogue ones !

Is there a reason for this or is it because no one has brought one out yet ?

I am under the impression that onboard hardware support for PVR (encoding) will reduce the burden on my CPU and this allow me to use a smaller case as there will be less heat.

the digital cards dont need hardware mpeg2 encoders as the stream they receive over the air is already in mpeg2 format. these will allow you to receive freeview stations, but not the stations that are encrypted (top-up-tv stations)
