Hi all. First post an' all that. Thanks already for the info that this forum has furnished me with.

One thing confuses me about inputs to the Panny. If you have a (cheap DVD) PS source should it be fed PS to the screen? I ask as I have read categorically...

    1. YES! You should feed a PS source to a PS screen for best quality

    2. NO! The Panny scaler will do a better job of de-interlacing the RGB signal so dont bother

Am going to feed by way of JS RGB>SCART box.

    Thoughts??

i can only give the results as i have found them with my 37" viera and harman kardon dvd22

i have tried progressive thorough the dvd and then letting the panel do the work - to be honest there was very little difference but at a push i would say that using the player in progressive slightly had the edge

Good news - that'll save me the £85 for a BNC board then :-D

If I understand correctly you are gonna use the JS SCART-VGA for the DVD.
This will give you the PS picture but from what I understand is that the component board will give you a lot better DVD PQ than the SCART-VGA.
Most people use this option for sources that don´t have component out like Dreamcasts, SNES, old consoles, VCR´s and Sky etc.

not sure about that because on the 6 series you can put component into the vga whereas they crippled this feature on the 7 series.

    Sorry, wasn't altogether clear here.

I'm yet to even plug up the screen - JS convertor on the way, no other boards as yet, so the question is whether to splurge an additional 85 nicker on the BNC board.....?
