    Hi all,

I'm trying to sort out some tickets for a couple of concerts as a suprise for a new female friend but as I've never been to a live stadium gig before I'm not sure whether to go for the seated or standing options.

Can someone give me the good/bad points of each?

Also, if there's any other info that would be useful to a newbie I'm all ears! Such as how early to get there, what to do if you're stuck in the middle of the crowd and dying for the loo! Bare in mind I'll have a female with me so using a bottle might not go down too well if I suggest it to her :D

One of the concerts is Phil Collins in Glasgow november if anyone's familiar with the SECC layout.

Any pointers or links to useful websites would be massively appreciated, want to get it right if I can!

    Cheers.

Depends, if there's just one band playing, then stand, but if there's a few, you might want to get seats.

Also depends whether its open air or closed arena, and lastly, who you're going to see!

I think it very much depends on where the seats are and how excited you are to be there. My best gigs have definitely been standing (28 Days, Capdown, One Minute Silence right at the very front :zonked: ) but if you have good seats and just want to watch the music then that's great too. I sat/stood in the middle at the front of the circle when I saw Rancid at Brixton and had the best view in the venue.

    Oh Dear

Phil Collins at an Arena, sorry but I would not buy a ticket for an arena ever!!!! 3 hours to get in the place maybe 5 hours to get out if you are lucky, nearest front row seat approx 50 feet away from stage. Sound is terrible..... Don't do it save yourself the money.

Go see a new band in a smaller venue.

This year I was lucky to see Athlete in a pub in Nottingham for free. As it happens they are one of my favourite bands & I have seen them many times before. But afterwards we got to meet the band, get pics & autographs. Excellent

    Regards

    Gary

Phil Collins was her idea, we were discussing who we'd like to see in concert and she said Phil but thought he'd retired, which is why it's a suprise because she doesn't know he's doing a farewell tour. I could bear a few hours listening to him if it gets me in her good books, and I remember to take some earplugs :D

I've been trying to talk her into going to new york for the weekend in october when U2 happen to be doing madison square garden but she's not happy me paying for everything, probably thinks I'll be asking for a few favours in the hotel later :D

Though what you're saying about arenas will probably apply for U2 as well?

I take it you are not currently doing any 'favours' for each other...?

Is this a concert/trip a ploy to get romantically involved with a friend..?

Come on boy put your cards on the table....... (we are a nosey bunch on here you know!)

She's a new friend that I'm hoping will become something more. Only get to see her the odd weekend due to me working away from home, so taking it slowly at the moment as she's really gorgeous so don't want to scare her off.

    Hope that satisfies your curiosity!
