The last two times I have turned on my computer it got part way through the start up and then started to make a strange high pitch peeping noise and not go any further. I managed to get it going but does anyone know what it could be? I have

    2.2ghz athlon proccessor
    with 510 mb ram
    120 gb hard drive
    windows me

Is the hi pitch peeping noise coming from the speaker? Most mb use bleeps on the speaker to delivery fault codes. If it is this have a look at the mb manual for what the fault code is.

I'd start by making sure your memory, sound card, g card , heat sink and fan are all seated correctly in your mobo. These are the things that generally contribute to error beeps if not pushed fully home or installed correctly. If that doesn't work then you'll have to start digging a bit deeper.
