If i go for a 1280x720 widescreen(wxga) dlp projector , how well does it display a conventional xga computer output 1024x768 is it downscaled and looks poor (i.e. text is harder to read etc.)???

If you go for an HD72i, say, it has 1280x768 capability (16x10) and displays 1280x720p (16x9) by turning off pixels. So it should manage 1024x768 XGA with 1-1 mapping (no downscaling), but will have black bars down the sides.

You'd be better just using 1280x720 though surely? Then I use 1280x1024 for gaming and the projector downsclales it.

aye, for windows just use 1280x720, works fine, in fact its quite useful on some websites......heh

for gaming then check for software hacks to make the game 1280x720, if not choose 1280x1024 if supported or 1024x768 if not and let the PJ resize....

altho be warned, i think some PJ's dont like unusual ressies from computers via HDMI/DVI......VGA is more stable......
