I've been dreaming of using my computer on a high-def wide-screen TV. A set-up where I could play games or surf the internet on one tuner, and right next to it be watching satellite.

I recently talked to a few people and they said the quality of a computer on a big screen is extremely poor when compared to that of a CRT monitor.

I want to know what you guys think. Is it worth getting a DLP or an LCoS (we're talking fall of next year so I'm thinking the LCoS technology should be better by then) and setting it up to play games like Doom 3?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Well farcry on my 1280x720 dlp is awsome.
the image is about 7ft wide i guess and the colour reproductin is staggering.image is also very sharp.

    definately worth it.

When i had a 50ins plasma, i can say that i prefered the big CRT i have as a monitor. the plasma was a bit blurry.

What kind of DLP and what size is it?

That's great to hear. I guess my home entertainment dream is back on.

Its not that big at all(but not the smallest) but the pic is awesome.

TV out via a graphic cards s-video tv out or similar don't produce great results. However, my Hitachi plasma accepts rgb input and has a designated pc mode. I usually feed it @ 1024X768 and the reults are very good. It's very handy having my tft connected via dvi and my plasma connected via rgb from the dual output of my Radeon 9800 pro.
