Compro Videomate DVB-T poor performance

Standard Member
Hi There

Have got one of the above cards in an I7 Win7 PC.

Picture quality is a bit hit and miss with regular pixelation and break up.

Have run DVBstreamexplorer and it advises the signal strength to be full strength and the quality to be approx 75%.

Signal is derived from rooftop aerial>sky box>amplified distribution unit>pc

Previous analogue card seemed to work ok.

Anyone got any ideas to help improve the situation?

75% quality indicates that you have some bit errors - sig strength has little importance except that it could indicate that you actually have too much signal (overloading the front end of the tuner).
Can the gain be turned down in the distribution unit to check this ? If not you would need to try an inline attenuator - or temporarily a lossy length of coax cable as a test.
Other possibilites are too weak a signal or some interference creeping in (DECT phone, baby alarm, electrically noise motor, central heating pump etc.).
Time for some detective work to establish which is the case.

Analogue signal is also being distributed on same network without any problems.

Also main TV with built in Digital tuner seems to have no problems.

Guess it could be interference...
