I've just ordered a Toshiba widescreen TV that has component video inputs and a Toshiba DVD player that has component video outputs. What kind of wiring do I need to connect the two pieces of equipment to get a component video picture (which I've heard is better than RGB)? Do I need normal phono leads?

Use any good quality phono, a triple (red, black or white and yellow) if you are taking the sound to your tv.

You can you the leads that come with the Television, I am ware that other people have done this and they report that the picture is fine. I bought some gold plated phono leads from Maplins and the picture with them is very good. <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

You don't get cables with Toshiba televisions that can be used for the component video.
