Hi,

Excuse if in wrong forum, was not sure where to post.

At work we have a CCTV system and from it we plug component cables into a TV and we are able to view the cameras on the TV.

Unfortunately the TV seems to have broken, changed the fuse etc no luck.

We have a spare Dell monitor from an old PC that takes a VGA connection.

Would there be any problem converting the component connection to VGA and playing it on the Dell monitor? What cable should I use to convert?

Regards,
Ryan

Although you can easily buy a Component to VGA cable there is no guarentee that it will work with your monitor. VGA normally carries the RGBHV video signal which is very different from the YUV Component signal. For the cable to work you will need to be able to set the VGA input on the monitor to Component (I can do this on my Dell 2209wa monitors, but not all monitors can do this) otherwise you will need a hardware converter to get the display on the monitor.

Mark.
