    Hi guys,

A quick question - I have just bought a plasma TV and currently have my DAVS550 connected to it via s-video. The only input left for use is the "computer" input which looks like a standard PC monitor input.

The 550 has component out (I believe it can also do prog scan), so is it possible to just buy a cable which goes from 3 phonos (component video) to the VGA-type connector on the screen? And more importantly, would it work?

    Thanks for your help,

    Noel.

    Hi Noel,

Maybe if you told us which model plasma have - it may help. Some plasmas, including the Pioneer MXE and Panasonic series 6 can accept a component input into the VGA socket with just a change in the set-up menu. Hope this helps.

    Thanks Steve,

You're quite right, I'm sure it would help!

It's a Medion 6060. I know it's not very well known but it seems OK. It has two Scarts (one RGB used for SKY+, the other for VCR - daughters Barney videos), one S-Video (currently used for the 550), one composite (not used), a 15 pin VGA-type port and a DVI. While the S-Video is OK, I can't help thinking it could be better.

The manual is not very helpful and the website doesn't tell me much. I'm pretty new to plasma and don't want to put anthing together which might do it some damage.

    Cheers,

    Noel.
