Looking to hook up a DVD player to the DVI input on my Philips 32PF9986 LCD. Was hoping to get one of the new Samsung HDMI/DVI outputting DVD players but am not sure if this would work (not sure if my set supports HDCP). Anyway as an alternative is there a cable available that will allow me to connect the standard component outputs on the DVD to DVI on my TV? Will there be any scaling issues? (the picture using RGB scart is pretty poor).

    Thanks.

Bear in mind, of course, that such cables only support analogue signal transfer, so you need to check that the DVI input on the screen is capable of handling an analogue - ie DVI-I - input, and not just a DVI-D digital one.

    Cheers

The DVI input on the Philips TV is definitely analogue enabled (DVI-I). Do you think that the screen formatting options will work on an analogue signal using this input (they don't for a digital signal from a PC). All scren sizing is controlled via the PC in this instance.

Not familiar with this screen as haven't tested it myself, but I would suspect not
