    Hi All,

    Any thoughts on this appreciated...

I have a sky box, a sony dvp-ns585p player and the lg dlp tv. Using this kit is the only way to get a component picture from sky to the tv by using a convertor box/scart to component lead, or can I feed the sky scart into the dvd player and get a component signal to the tv like this?

    Cheers,
    Blasthand.

I doubt it will work, as the DVD player would need to convert the RGB scart signal into YUV component, and I'm not aware of any DVD players let alone a budget player with this feature.

I would say that it would be worth trying, as it wouldn't cost you anything, just don't expect it to work. ;)

If you get a decent AV Receiver with video conversion this will spruce up the audio side of things as well as giving you the ability to plug all your video sources into the receiver and take a component out of it to the screen. Models to shortlist are as follows:

    Yamaha DSP-AX750SE
    Yamaha RX-V1400RDS
    Denon AVR-3805
    Arcam AVR250
    ARcam AVR300

Does the TV not have any RGB-enabled inputs? I only ask, because there is no fundamental difference in signal quality between RGB and component, so I'm puzzled as to why you'd want to convert.

My JVC Dvd Recorder takes ANY signal u pipe into it - composite - svideo - rgb scart and throws out a superb prog scan image to my panasonic ae100 projector via the component outputs.

I have both Sky Plus and my Divx dvd player going through it - excellent results for less than £200.00.
