Component or VGA XBox360 Connection

Frog Morton

Trying to establish the best HD connection for my xbox 360. Do I use the supplled component video cable, or do I buy a VGA lead.

I believe both provide a HD picture, but is one better than the other?

The component provides a nice picture on my 42" HD ready plasma (1024 x 768), but it is not as good as picture on the LCD TVs you see in shops like game and toys r us.

All views appreciated. Thanks.
If you have a read in the XBOX 360 forum you'll find this has cropped up quite a bit, and the general consensus seems to be that the VGA lead gives a 'washed out' look in comparison to the Component cables.

The other difference is that the VGA lead will allow you to upscale standard definition DVDs up to 1080p, whereas component does not allow upscaling of DVDs (it does allow games to be played at 1080p I believe though)

I've got mine connected by component & I'm very happy with the result.
