I'm going to be wall-mounting my plasma about 1.5m above the floor. Originally I had intended to run all my cables (Component/HDMI/Audio) through the wall, under the skirting, and up to where I though would be a good place to have my audio equipment. This would be about 8.5m away. After looking at costs of cables (say 10m off-the-shelf) it's looking like it's gonna cost me around £200 at least. My other option is to have some sort ov AV rack under the plasma. My questions are: Would it be substantially cheaper to have all my AV equipment 2m away? Would I have to opt for very expensive cables for the longer distance (10m) to ensure quality signal over this distance? Does anyone have suggestions for reasonable quality cabling (Component/HDMI/Audio) that would give good results at this length? I'd prefer to have everything out of the way as I could then convince my girlfriend to get a coffee table (she doesn't want to have both the AV rack and the coffee table because she thinks this would take up too much space). But if it's going to double the cost... I might have to consider the other option. Please help! I want my coffee table!
