Component feed to plasma

Anyone know why when I switch to progressive component from my Tosh SD900E the picture is much softer and less colorful than when using interlaced. The difference is very noticeable and as such I have left it on interlaced cos it is a far better picture but surely progressive should be way ahead.

Any ideas?
