Hi, just returned from the dealer where a Domino20H powered by Meridian G91 over HDMI was wired up. Somone had calibrated the machine with user colorsettings which gave an amazing true colorfidelity.

But I've heard from Stacey Spears from Secrets of Hometheater Hifi that the best way to transport the HDMI signal is with the YCbPr colorspace intact (a possibility with HDMI) , not transcoding it to RGB within the DVD player.

But as soon as I set the Meridian G91 to output component colorspace over HDMI the image turned pink i.e. the projector didn't have a clue that component was sent to it, it still processed the signal as RGB.

The Sim2 Domino20H had firmware version 2.30.00 F, is there a firmware release for this problem?

The Meridian G91 was running firmware level 1.27.

The problem also occurs with the G98 to Epson TW500 over HDMI, there may be some issues with the 1.27 firmware upgrade.

I had one of my customers bring in a G98 he uses with a Domino 20H via HDMI.
Picture quality was good but for some reason the G98 was chopping off the bottom of the picture (about 10 rows of mirrors on a 20H ) on PAL but was fine on NTSC.

I had a 300 Link on loan and also had difficulties locking on to the HDMI signal from the G98, I'm sure it's sortable with a software change on the G98.

We tried a G98 with a new 300 Xtra via HDMI and it worked fine except losing a few lines at the bottom with PAL material.

Doubt the problem is at the Meridian end. I changed my G91 to output YCbPr rather than RGB to a Pioneer 504 plasma and had the same problem as described, but selecting a different HDMI option on the plasma fixed it.

Yes I'm aware that some Plasmas work OK with the G98 & YCbPr over HDMI but I would be interested in knowing which projectors do.

Currently, the Domino20H, Epson TW500 and Sony HS20 do not.

I will be speaking to our friends at Meridian to see if we can resolve these minor hiccups.

That would help, I'm currently talking to Ed at Meridian regarding this issue.

Meridian are aware of these problems and hope to have a new software release in due course.
