I am currently using a cheap (£13) RCA-RCA component cable to connect my Sony 900 DVD to my Panasonic PWD6 Plasma display. The input board on the plasma has BNC connectors so I am also using RCA-BNC adaptors.

Is it likely that I would get a good increase in PQ by upgrading to a more expensice BNC terminated cable (say £60-£70)?

If so, could anyone recommend some to try?

Moving up to a well constructed cable utilising good quality and well screened conductors and 75 ohm RCA and BNC connectors will normally make for a better image with the PWD6.

I use/supply BetterCables and these have worked well with all sorts of source kit.

    Best regards

I was using 3 standard phonos on my DVD-TV and upgraded to a 'proper' cable from Bluejeans which uses the same cable and connectors as the 'Mark Grant' cable for nearly half the price.

    The difference was huge.:D :D :D

Hi, would I be charged by customs if I ordered over £100 worth from bluejeans? Their prices look great but if I'm charged by customs it woudn't be much cheaper.

Luck of the draw I'm afraid. I didn't get hit but I think others have been. My cable came via normal air mail post and we all know how lax good old Royal Mail can be about paper work. :)

hmmm I'm not bothered about getting them quickly so I suppose I could take a chance but I've been charged before and I don't have the money to spare. Do I take a chance and pay customs if they catch me, or do I pay twice as much anyway!!

I don't suppose anyone knows how much I would have to pay if I did get charged? My order will total $238.80 excluding shipping.

    US Shipping
    UK Import duty - 5-10%
    Courier paperwork - £8-£10
    UK VAT - 17.5%

Or order from a UK importer of cables from the US and save a bit :)

    Best regards

I got a box of cables from Blue Jeans cables today. The certified value was $70 (cables - shipping cost), I think it cost me under £45 for the order.

Got stung by customs and this is the breakdown of the box

    import VAT - £7.05 (17.5% of $70 at 1.75 exch rate)
Royal Mail fee - £4.00 (fixed rate)

So potentially you'll have to pay VAT + £4.00.

    Still cheaper than UK prices.

Took about 10 days to arrive and I didn't pay any extra, 3 days in customs though, for some reason I've been caught a lot for charges recently. :(

Or 1m for $37, 3m for $52 both plus $5 shipping and spend the rest on a film or two :)

Mark Grant's cables are cheaper than the Supra AV3, and his prices include delivery :smashin:

The cable's are awesome too, I have both Mark's and Blue Jean's cables. Build and design is identical.

The cable is huge though as the Belden 7710A is about 25mm diameter

The Supra AV3 is rather feeble by comparison
