I am a complete technophobe when it comes to buying all this new tv stuff!!

I have read up and read up and i am more confused than ever!!

From what I can gather sony and the samsungs are both good lcd tv's.

Our requirements are 37" or the very maximum of 40"

watch a lot of dvds and play the wii console on the tv.

We have a budget of a maximum of £700

We have seen the SAMSUNG LE37R88BD 37" at dixons for £615 is this any good?

we have heard that the sony bravias are very good but there are so many different ones how do you compare like for like?

Please help me buy my family there first lcd tv!!

what should i be looking out for?

how can you compare like for like?

how many hdmi slots do i need?

    :lease:

In regards to HDMI slots. It basically depends on what you want to use. Wii is component, so that's no problem, and ordinary sky is scart or component.

In future, you may want either SKY HD, PS3 or some form of HD disc player, but even then, 2 HDMI's should suffice and most TV's come with 2 as standard now. In fact, the TV that Chris has mentioned, has 3!
