Nope all i saw was the Price and that did it for me....
Recieved my set today, like most people have said some of the discs have scratches or marks but thankfully not too many and they are only light so should effect playback.
The bottom of the tin was bent outwards but hopefully I will be able to get it back in shape, just need a small hammer
No sign of mine yet.
I just got my set and condition wise it is as perfect it can be. There is no minor or major scratches from what I can see on any of the DVD's. The tin is fine and has no dents. I can see why it would dent as the tin is the sort that can be pushed in and watch it push put.
The Amazon packaging was good. The set has its own cardboard box which was also put in a Amazon box.
The book that comes with it really impressive but it is in German. It has some good pics in it.
There is probably room for Crusade where the cap goes but, there is no actual slot for it to go in.
Be careful when pulling out the DVD's from the tin as they can slide out of the sleeve if you don't grip tight enough.
Some pics if anyone is interested.
Nice pics....has it not gone unavailable yet? My resolve is weakening
I dont suppose your dvd outer cases have slight scuff marks do they? as every one of mine does and they are all in identical places which makes me think that the packaging they are sitting in is to blame.
Yes, same here. I hadn't noticed them. They are small white marks on the back and inner spine of the cases. I don't think it is the packaging as some of the marks are above where they fit in the tin.
I'm sorry, I really would like to buy this box, but all that german text really puts me off
The DVD's have English audio as well as English menus. That is all I need. I am not going to pay £160+ for the R2 set just so I can have English on the packaging. However, it would have been nice to have a English translation in the book.
Now to get Crusade cheap. I have seen it for £17.99 in the past.
Exactly how I feel!
It's £125 for the UK set, until it gets discounted further. I'm downloaded the first episode of B5 at the moment so i'll see if I like it or not.
That is at Choices. It is £160 at both Amazon.co.uk and Play.com. I dealt it will get any cheaper than what Choices is doing it for as the RRP is £200 !
I have heard the UK box for all the season is rubbish anyway. It is just a big cardboard box to put all the current versions of the seasons and films in.
I have seen B5 and Crusade at £18 per season when on sale and around £8 for each film. That still makes it about £150.
MY set has ended at £65.56 as Barclays have added £1.61 on top to ocnvert from Euros.
Mine has just landed
Dvd's look fine - box slightly bent on bottom but easily pushed back into shape
I noticed the tin is a little thin and can be pushed in and out. I am tempted to leave it in the cardboard box during storage to protect the tin from being dented.
No it doesn't make it £150, it makes it £125 seeing as it has all the films and Crusade, where did you get £150 from?.
Of course it will get cheaper!, £75 is not a huge saving of a £200 rrp, these days you see titles with an rrp of £24.99 going for as little as £4.99 which is around £80 off!. Apply that on a larger scale and the set could theoretically sell for as low as £39.99, while it's not guaranteed to go that low (I'd guess £59.99) it's an absolute cert that it will be sub £100 as that's 'only' half price.
Try not to misunderstand the purpose of this post, for all means buy the R2 German set (I will if I like the show and it's still this price in a couple of months) but i'm just trying to point out that people needn't worry if they miss this bargain as the UK set will be cheap at some point.
You should get one of these
£18 x six seasons (5 B5 and Crusade) and £8 x 6 films. I thought it was obvious that I was talking about when they are in sale separately. At the moment ChoicesUK has them at £17.99.
You have to remember that £200 is already at a lower price. B5 and Crusade at the moment is up to £40 per season when bought separately (Amazon is £39.59 for just season 1) which would make it £240 and add the films on top. I suppose the UK complete boxset might go down to £99.99 if it get re-released at a lower price. It will be a long time before that happens as we know, Distributors like to keep prices high as long as possible.
One very odd thing i noticed was that the audio states that it's in 5.1, when you put on the first episode a logo pops up that says Dolby Surround, i have never had to switch on my amp so fst to confirm it was 5.1 and indeed it was.
