    Current time: 18:08
Time window given by engineer this morning: 15:00-18:00

I have booked a day from work which 'could' be costing me £100ds...

If the engineer doesn't turn up, or as is now... running past 18:00, what do you think I should expect/request for compensation?

Called SKY and they say the engineer must be running late, and no calls have come in to say he can't make it.

SKY say the engineers work till its dark... should I just accept this if they do turn up? Ive gone for the £49 SKY+ (with multiroom cos I want it).

I suspect Sky will have every answer in the book to why you wont get compensation.

    They have just left!
They were 1 1/2 hours after the end of their window...
Maybe someone should do a better job of managing their time!
    pace
Still, got Pace V2, brandnew out fo the box!

And the engineer gave me a faulty V1 box with a recording fault (cos I pretty much did the instal for them before they got here)!

as for cs i think sky are getting better as when i moved they wanted a £50 reinstall fee , which i wasnt happy to pay so i told them to forget it and then the chap said
" hold on a sec ill get a manager"
then he offered the top sky+ package @ £20.00 for the next 4 months!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi
I would say that if the engineer gave you a time slot of 3 hours and got somewhere near you should write sky a congratualtions letter instead of being a grumpy old t**t

Shove a new drive in it, and you've got a box you can sell for £70 on ebay ! :)

I had exactly the same thing last week.

    "I'll be there between 1 and 4!"

7PM rolls around... Half 7 he shows up. No update from the engineer in between.

I'd taken the day off work when I needn't have, costing me at least twice my annual Sky subscription cost in lost earnings. What do they offer? 2 months half price. Cheers Sky.

I think Sky are being generous giving 'compensation'. If they had fixed it in the time period you still would have taken time off work. The came 1/2 hour after the time slot - you still got the install and still too the same amount of time off work. Where there would be a problem is if you took half day off in the morning and they didn't turn up until the afternoon so you ended taking a whole day off at short notice.

That's exactly the sort of behaviour I would expect from sky. I will personally never subscribe to anything murdoch publishes or broadcasts. :thumbsdow

A Sky engineer told me that installs often take longer than planned because people don't read the letters they get from Sky, and expect the engineers to run 50 metres of phone line across the house for nothing. One guy apparently had 3 Sky+ boxes fitted, and one phone point in the house

As long as you didn't incorrectly describe it, I don't think there would be a problem - except we all know you paid nothing for it :D

Maybe a trade will be in order...

I'll get some pics and post it in the correct place.
