Comparing the AVForums review markings

I'm really not sure how to take these - are the scores absolute and can projectors be compared against each other. Or, is technology, price, etc. taken into account??

For example, the 3 grand Sony VPL-HW55ES scores a 9 and pretty well across the board -

However, the 1 grand BenQ W1400 scores an 8 and more or less matches the Sony across the board -
BenQ W1400 3D DLP Projector Review | AVForums

Is it very simplistic so say that you are paying an extra 2 grand for very little gain in performance?? Both even score an 8 for Value For Money!!!
