I'm intending to get one or two Sony DVP-CX777ES megachangers - they'll be controlled by an Escient system.

As these DVD players are only available in the US, I'll need to buy them region-free or get them converted, and I was also thinking of getting an SDI mod done at the same time, or possibly later on. I don't have a scaler with an SDI input at the moment, but I may well get one in the near future.

The only companies I've found that do SDI mods are outside the EU; JVB in California/Netherlands and DVDupgrades in Switzerland: http://www.jvbdigital.com/jvb.asp?cur=2&level=dvdplayers&page=title&title=339
https://www.dvdupgrades.ch/product/Modification/DVDupgrades/Sony/Kit_Sony_DVP_Cx777/24358.html

To avoid complications with shipping, VAT and import duty, I'm thinking it might be better to get the mods done in this country if possible.

What is the reputation of the above suppliers like, and does anyone know any suitable SDI modifiers in the UK?

I've seen this place that sells multiregion Sonys (no SDI mod though)
http://www.220-electronics.com/ but, I've heard that some multi-region conversions are done in such a way that it's impossible to subsequently install an SDI mod - where could I get a multi-region mod (without SDI) that wouldn't cause this prolem?

The two most reputable places, which have been used by many forum members are www.crtprojectors.co.uk and www.pjhifi.co.uk

However, it may be unlikely that they have ever performed an SDI mod on one of these. It's worth contacting both of the above to see if they know if it's possible.

Good luck,

T.

I contacted PJ and CRT, but PJ said they couldn't do it and CRT said they'd have to see the player to be able to say whether they could do it.
