Is there any way my Sky + box can be persuaded to acquire the 'commercial skip' feature now available on some DVD recorders?

No, best you can do is 30x fast forward.

If you get your timing right on 30x FF you can only have to wait for about 5 seconds and you're out of the break. The trick is anticipating the trailer for another show at the end of the break. I think it's fun and wouldn't want to lose it!!!

Seriously though, I'd be wary of any sort of system just because advertisers will kick up a stink and then the channel will have to figure out a way of fooling the system or face losing money.

In the US, Tivo are looking a brining in a system that broadcasts adverts if you choose to fast forward so there's no avoiding them.

I prefer the solution my pace twin has which is skipping by 1 minute at a time for every press of the cursor key. Four presses and the break is over.
