Good Day, TV Fans,

As the dark nights draw-in ever earlier, now is the time to settle down after work, with a cosy mug of cocoa, in front of the TV, with some of the cool, classy and charismatic TV shows that are due to air over the next seven days. So, take a read through my listings and see if there’s anything to tickle your fancy. As this is an extended list (covering 10 days worth of shows), you may prefer to cut-and-paste, or print this list out in Word.

Wednesday 31st October
NEW: Our New Life In Everwood – 6:00-7:00pm

Acclaimed US drama series, gets mangled by ITV and shunted from ITV1 onto ITV3, with the start of – from the information I’ve located – appears to be Season 4. If that is correct, then what the heck’s happened to Season 3, which as far as I know hasn’t appeared on any ITV channel at all? Episodes air each weekday at 6pm, with a following day repeat at 2pm. A repeat showing of episodes 1 and 2 is also on Saturday morning between 9:20-11:10am. (ITV3)

NEW: Tru Calling – 8:00-9:00pm
The very short Season 2 gets a digital terrestrial premiere, thanks to Sky 3. Enjoy the final 6 episodes of this show, before it was cruelly cancelled. Show continues each Wednesday at the same time. :) Be warned, there don’t appear to be any repeats scheduled, so this will be the only chance to catch the show. (Sky 3)

Thursday 1st November
The Most Annoying TV Shows We Love To Hate – 7:00-8:00pm

First of five, hour-long shows, counting down the 100 most annoying shows ever to grace UK TV screens, that some us secretly harbour a liking for. Each episode covers twenty shows, and airs over the next few days. Series continues tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday and then concludes on Wednesday, all at the same time. Contains some mild bad language, and occasional scenes that may not be appropriate for younger viewers. (BBC3)

NEW: Kath And Kim – 10:00-10:30pm
Season 4 of this outrageously mad Australian comedy show, gets its UK premiere tonight, just three months after its Australian broadcast on the ABC Network! Two years have passed since the end of Season 3, and the ladies are looking to both spice-up their marriages… with horrific consequences for everyone concerned. By 2007, this series had become a bit of a worldwide cult, and you’ll notice that all eight episodes house a rather large amount of famous cameos – many in blink-and-you’ll-miss-them roles. Stars to look out for include cricketer Shane Warne, Matt Lucas and David Walliams, as well as film actor Eric Bana (“The Hulk” and “Chopper” fame). The previously unseen Special “Da Kath And Kim Code”, that fills-in some of what went on between Seasons 3 and 4, can be seen only on BBC2 over Christmas. (LivingTV)

Cheers: Finale Special – 11:00pm-12:35am
As part of Channel 4’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, various shows are being transmitted. Tonight sees the final ever episode of classic US comedy “Cheers” set in the Boston bar, with Ted Danson, Kirsty Allie, John Ratzenberger and Kelsey Grammer. The final drinks are drawn, and the curtains close after 11 long years, but what will happen, and how will Cliff and Norm cope without their usual barstools? A sad, but comedically poignant conclusion to this brilliant series. (More 4)

Friday 2nd
NEW: Countdown - 25 Years Ago Today – 2:55-4:15pm

The popular daytime words and numbers quiz takes a break for the day, and instead, viewers and longtime fans get to see a) the first ever episode of the UK edition of the quiz, from back in 1982, and b) the history of the show, with interviews and confessions from cast members and celebrities about why they love the show, and what it was like to be put in Dictionary Corner for five afternoons in a row. (Channel 4)

FILM: Dogma (15) – 9:00-11:25pm
Kevin Smith’s brilliantly shocking and hilariously profane look at religion in modern-day America. When two angels are jettisoned out of Heaven, after committing ungodly acts, they are cursed with eternity amongst the heathens on Earth. But the angels have other ideas, and are eager to return to God’s bosomly warmth, and are willing to do anything to anyone, to get there, no matter who dies in the process! Using a female abortion clinic worker as their lead, they set about on a journey she (and they) will never forget. Stellar casting, with the likes of Janeane Garofalo, Alan Rickman, Kevin Smith, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and many, many more, in this deliciously dark and decadent comedy. Despite the lenient certificate by the BBFC, this film is full of strong language and extreme profanity from the outset, and contains material that is likely to offend anyone of a religious disposition. So please be warned! This movie is not for the easily shocked or offended. However, if you can tolerate the language, it’s up there with “Monty Python’s Life Of Brian” in terms of satire. Highly Recommended. (Film4)

The Big Fat Anniversary Quiz – 10:00pm-12:05am
Comedian Jimmy Carr hosts an extended quiz, devoted to 25 years of Channel 4 – both the good and the bad parts! See clips not broadcast before from the channel’s history; take a look at some famous shows, and glimpse some of the things that should never have come to fruition. (Minipops, and the Red Triangle, anyone?! :D ) Contestants include Quentin Tarantino, Vic Reeves, Jonathan Ross and many more. Contains strong language and adult humour throughout. Repeated Sunday night on More4, at 10:00pm. (Channel 4)

FILM: Blazing Saddles (15) – 10:30pm-12:30am
Mel Brook’s flatulent-filled, spoof comedy western, that has become a classic of cinema, gets another TV airing. Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little star. Contains strong language, sexual and racial innuendo and vulgar humour. Repeated on Saturday night at 9:45-11:45pm. (ITV4)

FILM: Friday The 13th (18) – 11:05pm-12:55am
This is it: the original and much underrated horror movie, that kick-started the whole mainstream slasher movie genre. Often imitated, but never equalled, this is where it all started, back in 1980 with young Jason Vorhees dying at Camp Crystal Lake. But his death isn’t the only curse on the campsite, as someone wants revenge. Watch out for Kevin Bacon in his very first movie role, and that very shocking ending! TCM are showing the original, full uncut version here, so be warned, as some of the gore is very graphic. Contains some explicit gory violence, plenty of nudity and material that may offend. (TCM Turner Classic Movies channel)

FILM: Halloween II (18) – 1:15-2:45am
Reasonable follow-up to the John Carpenter horror original, starting straight after the end of the first one. Michael Myers lies in the garden of the Strode household, but before the police can unmask the body, it disappears. It’s not long, before Michael has some more grudges to bear, and both Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and Dr Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) are top of the hit list! Contains strong violence, some gore and occasional bad language. (BBC1)

Saturday 3rd
FILM: Four Weddings And A Funeral (15) – 9:00-11:20pm

A delightful comedy that really put Britain back on the map of World Cinema. You all know the story, but let’s just say that this is a great film, with much to laugh at, people to laugh with, and stuff that will bring tears to even the most hard-hearted of audiences. From the opening scene, through to the end-credits, this is a gem, and features a ferociously classy performance from late-lamented actress Charlotte Coleman, as Scarlet. Strong language from the beginning, but it’s used in such a funny situation, you’ll be hard pressed to take any offence at it. Watch out for the scene involving Scarlet discussing “bonking” with two young girls. Very funny! (Channel 4)

Shooting The Past – 9:40-11:50pm
The first two parts of a repeat of Stephen Poliakoff’s interesting three-part drama on art and media collections. When an American property developer arrives at a London photographic library, his intent is to simply buy the property, sack the staff and discard the contents. However, the staff who have invested not only their own time, energy and talent into categorising every single picture they have, for use by other companies and external agencies or sources, are unwilling to relent to this man’s desire to cast their “home” out from them. So, utilising their talents and pictorial resources, they set about convincing the man to retain the collection, through a mixture of hard-hitting home truths and deceptions. Lindsay Duncan and Timothy Spall star as the two librarians, whilst Liam Cunningham is the property developer who is determined to complete his task, no matter what the cost. Poliakoff’s work is a slow-burner, but stick with it, because it makes for an interesting treatise on art collections around the world, and how we should not simply discard seemingly unneeded libraries, just because of modern technology like the internet. This applies as much to film collections as that of photography and art, much of which is irreplaceable. Contains some swearing, and brief nudity, but nothing too contentious. The concluding episode airs next Saturday night. (BBC2)

NEW: Fanny Hill – 9:40-11:40pm
Movie-length version of the recent BBC adaptation of the classic historical novel, about the bawdy adventures of a young lady in 18th Century London, as she enters the world of high-class prostitution. Makes an interesting comparison with ITV2’s “Secret Adventures Of A Call-Girl” that is currently on. Contains sexual material and some swearing. Repeated tomorrow at 10:50pm-12:50am. This drama will also air later in the year on BBC2 for those who don’t have access to digital TV. (BBC4)

NEW: Californication – 10:00pm-Midnight
If you’ve still not seen this new comedy/drama show, then where have you been?! Five continues to build on its reputation for bringing us the best of US programming, with this outrageously frank and unrestrained adult series starring The X-Files’s David Duchovny, in the role of lecherous ladies’ man, Hank Moody. A man who wrote his first novel, which made him plenty of money, only to find his family and life going up in flames around him. Expicit, crude, with plenty of foul language, the show goes where even “Deadwood” and “The L-Word” wouldn’t risk it, so this is a strictly adults only show. But for those of you with an open-mind, it’s blissfully funny, with a cracking script and possibly Duchovny’s best role to date! Natascha McElhone stars as Hank’s ex-wife. Episodes 1-3 are shown tonight, with Episode 4 on Sunday night on Five at 11:30pm (or Tuesday night at 11pm on FiveUS). The show then continues each Thursday night at 10pm, over on Five. Don’t miss this show under any circumstances! Catch the opening sequence of Episode 1, right from the very first second. Beautifully tasteless! :rotfl: Highly Recommended! (FiveUS)

Channel 4 At 25 – 11:20pm-1:30am
Two-hour documentary about the Nation’s 4th main terrestrial channel. The highs and the lows are examined, along with clips and interviews from people both in front of, and behind the scenes. As you might expect, there will be adult material and strong language, as well as some material of a controversial and potentially offensive nature – as befits the channel’s history – hence the late-night time-slot. Recommended, especially for those of you who miss the brilliance of Channel 4 that once was. (Channel 4)

The Harlot’s Handbook – 11:40pm-12:10am
Documentary about the infamous book “Harris’s List”, which was a listings guide to prostitutes (both male and female) and their services in the 18th and 19th Century, including prices and ratings! Trivia Note: shockingly, there is a modern-day equivalent, entitled “The McCoy Guide To Massage Parlours”, which does exactly the same thing, and is updated each year. It just shows you how little we’ve moved forward in terms of our ancestry and the selling of sex for money! Contains sexually-themed material, and frank discussions of services, that may offend some viewers. (BBC4)

FILM: Tromeo And Juliet (18) – 12:50-2:45am
Nope, that’s not a spelling error! :D Take one world famous playwright’s most beloved piece of drama, submit to a US exploitation movie company, mix together, and this is the result: a dark, twisted and hilariously cruel variation on Shakespeare’s famous romantic drama. Set in 1980’s America, amongst the high-rises and backstreets of New York, the film follows the fraught relationship between one boy and one girl, as they try to get through college, in spite of their troubled surroundings, background and families. This is “Romeo And Juliet” as you’ve never seen it before, but it’s a fascinatingly weird interpretation! Contains strong language, nudity, sexual material and some gore, but stick with it! (Zone Horror)

NEW: The Buddha Of Suburbia – 1:00-2:00am
Late-night repeat of the first in this stellar four-part British drama, based on Hanif Kureishi’s novel about an Asian teenager growing-up in 1970’s London, amongst his immigrant family, and the changing social and racial climate. Well-acted by “Lost” actor Naveen Andrews, as Karim, and a whole host of other British character actors, this is a great mini-series. Showing here uncut and in the original 1.78:1 widescreen ratio, unlike the recent UK DVD release, so worth recording. Episodes continue each Saturday night at the same time. The series does contain occasional strong language, brief scenes of drug use, and scenes of an adult and sexual nature. Also showing in Hi-Def on the relevant channel. Highly Recommended! (Sky Arts and Sky Arts HD, formerly Artsworld and Artsworld HD respectively)

Sunday 4th
FILM: Charlotte’s Web 2 (U) – 12:25-1:55pm

If you want to ruin a classic children’s fable, take everything that is great about the original, bastardise it, and add sloppy dialogue, bad acting and a horrific script that should never have been approved, to make an additional but unneeded storyline. And this is the result you’ll end-up with. Avoid this movie, if you have any taste or decency in you. An appallingly bad animated movie in every sense of the words! (ITV1)

NEW: Scrapheap Challenge – 5:45-6:45pm
This is actually the final few episodes of the latest series, originally broadcast back in early 2007, and then ruthlessly curtailed by the moronic programming schedulers at Channel 4! Today, is the first semi-final, as teams from Norfolk and Devon have to build a giant earth-mover in just ten hours. An excellent show, that is both entertaining and educational, and ideal family viewing! Pity Channel 4 can’t seem to see that. (Channel 4)

FILM: High School Musical (U) – 7:25-9:00pm
Fancy a nice, wholesome kids film, that will keep them quiet for 90 minutes? Well, you could do a lot worse than this Disney film, from 2005. It’s a kid-friendly variation on “Fame”, with plenty of pretty young teens for both sexes to salivate over, whilst they enjoy the various musical numbers that populate the story, as good triumphs over bad. The sequel, “High School Musical 2” will air over Christmas on the BBC, and in a couple of weeks on the Disney Channel, if you can’t wait that long. (BBC3)

Frasier: Goodnight Seattle! – 8:00-9:00pm
The final ever episode of the superbly intelligent US comedy spin-off, from “Cheers”, as we find Frasier having to make a difficult decision: should he stay in Seattle, or head-off with a woman he’s fallen madly in love with? A great end, to a fantastic show! Possibly the finest comedy series ever made! (Paramount 2)

NEW: The British Academy Video Game Awards – 11:00om-12:05am
Exactly what it says, on the packaging. ;) May contain some material not suitable for viewers younger than 15 years of age. Repeated later, between 3:30-4:30am.(E4)

Monday 5th
NEW: Street Crime Live – 9:00-10:00pm

First of a new eight-part series, airing live every Monday evening, with Donal MacIntyre, as he investigates crime statistics in various parts of the UK. Tonight, he looks at London, where more than 20 youngsters have been shot or murdered in 2007 alone. He examines why the crimes were committed, who by, and asks whether the public, the local community and the government can stop this cycle of violence from increasing further. Contains material not suitable for younger audience members. (Five)

NEW: Inside Prisons – 9:00-10:00pm
First of a three-part look at life in modern-day US prisons. What is the day-to-day life like for the criminals, the victims and the families of those who are locked-up, and how do inmates deal with the treacherous and sometimes violent confrontations they experience? This series examines the pros and cons of keeping individuals locked-up, and asks whether prison is helping or hindering US society. Contains adult material and some strong language. Repeated later in the week on both Sky 1 and Sky 2. Also showing in HD. (Sky 1 and Sky 1 HD)

Coupling – 9:00-9:40pm
Hilariously funny episode from Series 1 of this early 2000’s BBC2 comedy show. When all-round muppet, and manly-idiot, Jeff, falls madly in love with a female passenger on his morning train journey, he is desperate to make contact with her, but can’t summon up the courage to do so. With his pals egging him on, however, things go faster than expected, and suddenly Jeff finds himself with a very awkward leg to stand on… literally. Absolutely brilliant! (Paramount 2)

Interview With A Cannibal – 10:00-11:05pm
Bleak and shocking one-off documentary looking at the infamous Rotenburg Cannibal, Armin Meiwes, who met a man online in March 2001, and coaxed the man into becoming Meiwes’s victim, as Meiwes invited to meet with him, and then killed and consumed him! The show interviews the killer in prison, and looks at whether Meiwes is psychotic; what possessed the victim to knowingly put himself forward to be cannibalised, and whether any laws have been transgressed. As the nature of the show demands, the show features material that is violent and graphic in nature, and may cause offence. Repeated on FiveLife on Wednesday at 11pm. (Five)

FILM: Jackass The Movie! (18) – 10:35pm-12:15am
Watch five grown men perform ridiculously sick and puerile stunts on one another, for the sheer hell of it, and because they can. You’ll either love this, or loathe it! Strictly for adults only, as the stunts shown are often dangerous, illegal or both. Contains offensive material, and very strong language throughout. Spawned a sequel, featuring more of the same, and a whole host of spin-off TV shows. Reality TV at its worst! :nono: (Film4)

FILM: Herschell Gordon Lewis Double-Bill (18) – 10:55pm-2:45am
Lewis is considered to be the man who introduced the world to gore. Tonight, horror movie fans are invited to see two of his greatest works. Starting with “Blood Feast”, in which an Egyptian King is brought back to life, and goes on a killing-spree. The film is badly acted, for sure, and some of the effects are silly, but for 1963, this would have had audiences running out of the cinemas, for the toilets. An interesting historical curiosity. Showing uncut, including the few seconds the BBFC cut, and in the original 4:3 format. At 12:55am, “The Gore-Gore Girls” airs, with a plot that is bordering on the slightly mad. A madman goes on the lose, who loves nothing more than mistreating women, and turning their corpses into life-like puppets, complete with marionette strings, for them to perform in his “plays”! It’s bad taste cinema, but also a sleazy, sick masterpiece that’s just as twisted by today’s standards, as back in 1972. Showing uncut, and in 1.77:1 widescreen. Both films contain plenty of gore, violence and extreme sexism, and are unsuitable for anyone under 18 years. (Zone Horror)

The RTS / Huw Wheldon Lecture 2007 – 11:20pm-Midnight
The annual Royal Television Society lecture is shown, with this year’s lecture delivered by interactive media guru Anthony Lilley, who looks at the future of TV, when it is fighting against the likes of You Tube, the internet and computer consoles. Can TV survive with the onslaught of interactive past-times that kids can now engage in? Do we still need a sedentary media platform like TV, where we can only sit and watch, rather than interact with, and more to the point, should TV be something we interact with in the first place? Worth watching if you’re interested in how TV will develop over the next ten years or so. (BBC2)

NEW: The Sopranos – Midnight-1:15am
Well, it’s not new, but you may as well list it as that. More4 have decided to re-run every single episode, from all 6 seasons, back-to-back, every night around Midnight, starting tonight with the 65-minute Pilot Episode, as we are introduced to Tony Soprano, and everyone else in the “waste management” business. When Tony starts to suffer anxiety attacks, he seeks help from a psychiatrist, Jennifer Melfi, but finds his profession and the desire for openness that the psychiatrist-client relationship demands, is a lot harder for him to deal with, than he expects. An excellent show, aimed at adults, with plotlines that force you to pay attention to every, single detail. Strong language and violence permeate the show, but if you can deal with that, this is worth viewing. (More4)

Dragnet – 4:15-5:00am
The recent US remake, starring Ed O’Neill and Ethan Embry, as Detectives Joe Friday and Frank Smith respectively, gets a stupid timeslot, for the final episode of Season 1. A good show, treated badly in ITV1’s schedules. (The rest of the Season was aired some 12 months ago now! ) (ITV1)

Tuesday 6th
Ellery Queen – 11:10am-Noon

Another episode from the 1970’s detective show. (BBC2)

Family Guy – 9:00-10:00pm
Want to see the show from the very beginning? Well, today you can, as FX returns right back to the very first episode of Season 1, running double-bills through all of the first five seasons, every Thursday night. Hilarious animated comedy for adults, that takes no prisoners. Highly Recommended. (FX)

Imagine – 10:35-11:15pm (Not all regions!)
Alan Yentob looks at the history of one of the best-known and most popular fonts, Helvetica, as it reaches its 50th birthday. (BBC1. Times may vary if you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland)

NEW: Autopsy: Emergency Room – 11:05pm-12:05am
He’s back – Gunther von Hagens – the unorthodox artist/clinician returns to UK TV screens with another controversial but intelligent look at death and the human body. Tonight, in the first of three parts, von Hagens investigates how accidents affect the human body, and how they can cause, or further, our death. Accompanying him, is a selection of living and deceased bodies, as he explains what happens when a body is on the verge of death, unless the airway can be kept open. Due to the nature of the show, there will be scenes of a graphic and gory medical nature, and scenes of real autopsies that some viewers may wish to avoid. If you can stomach it, his shows have been worth viewing. Parts 2 and 3 can be seen on the following two Tuesday evenings, at the same time. (Channel 4)

Wednesday 7th
NEW: McBride – 1:45-3:25pm

All-new US courtroom drama, gets a UK terrestrial premiere, with the feature-length Pilot Movie. Written and directed by US TV presenter/actor John Larroquette. When a woman is accused of shooting her married lover, a text message sent to McBride seems to suggest she is guilty, but after digging-around, McBride that many other suspects are crawling out of the woodwork, to label themselves or others as the killer. Suddenly the case seems less than clear cut. Contains mild violence, and mild bad language. Let's hope the rest of this new series, gets shown soon! (Channel 4)

NEW: Pleasure For Sale – 11:00pm-12:05am
Three-part documentary show, looking at the workings behind and in-front of the scene, at a Nevada Brothel! :D Contains adult material! (Five)

NEW: Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip – 12:10-2:10am
We’re on episode 7 of this excellent US drama import, and Channel 4 have lovingly buried one of their best shows, after Midnight on a Wednesday night! As you can see, they have a lot of faith in it, bearing in mind they’re running the show in double-bills every week! Anyway, for those who haven’t seen it yet, you should. It’s a show from Aaron Sorkin, creator of “The West Wing”, based around the fictionalised Studio 60 in Los Angeles, and the problems that a live, Friday-night comedy sketch show has, as the writers and cast have to produce ninety minutes of new material each week, whilst not treading on anyones toes. Putting it simply, this show rocks! It’s funny, poignant, and with the same kind of smart, snappy dialogue that “The West Wing” had in its hey-day! Channel 4, you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves for burying this show! Watch this, and then buy the DVD as soon as it gets released! ;) (Channel 4)

Thursday 8th
NEW: Bones – 9:00-10:00pm

Season 3 of the classy forensic crime drama, with Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. Repeated throughout the week on Sky 1 and Sky 2 at various times. Also showing in HD. (Sky 1 and Sky 1 HD)

NEW: Journeyman – 10:00-11:00pm
All-new sci-fi drama, from the US, starring “Rome’s” Kevin McKidd, as a journalist who discovers the ability to travel back in time. Preview comments seem to be quite favourable, so this could be a grower! First of 13-episodes. Repeated throughout the week on Sky 1 and Sky 2 at various times. Also showing in HD. (Sky 1 and Sky 1 HD)

FILM: Hellraiser (18) – 10:50pm-12:45am
Stunningly gruesome, but lovingly literate adaption of Clive Barker’s own novella, “The Hellbound Heart”, with Andrew Robinson and Clare Higgins. When an army officer discovers a mysterious Chinese puzzle box, he enters a netherworld of pain and pleasure, when a crew of sadistic creatures are revealed, and cause havoc. The Cenobites, as they are known, come forth and offer him one wish, but the wish comes at a severe price. One of the finest horror films ever made, and a really great British movie to boot. Shockingly brutal for sure, but a great plot, and some superb special effects, that still remain as groundbreaking today, as they did back in 1987! Highly Recommended, but not for the weak of stomach. Showing uncut, but in 4:3, rather than the original 1.77:1 format. (Zone Horror)

Friday 9th
FILM: The Exorcist: The Director’s Cuts (18) – 11:35pm-2:10am

First showing on UK TV of the fully uncut, widescreen version of the revised edition of the classis supernatural horror thriller, that was banned until the late 1990’s, and which is still considered one of the scariest horror movies ever made. When a little girl becomes possessed, the nightmare turns her and her families life into a living nightmare. Personally, I prefer this over the original cut, but here’s a chance to make up your own minds. Contains very strong language, explicit sexual scenes, graphic violence and scenes of a potentially blasphemous nature that make cause offence. Showing uncut in the original 1.85:1 widescreen format. (TCM Turner Classic Movies)

FILM: Class Of Nuke ‘Em High (18) – 2:45-4:40am
Another exploitation classic from the famous US Troma film studios, behind “Tromeo And Juliet”. A class of violent, rebellious and generally nasty high-school students go on a rampage, turning their school into a warzone. Silly, brutal and very juvenile at times, but also very funny and surprisingly graphic as well. Worth watching if you like unusual horror films. Contains graphic violence, strong language and sexual scenes. Showing uncut, but in a badly-cropped 4:3 version, from the original 1.85:1 version. (Zone Horror)

And there we end! I hope there’s plenty of stuff to interest you all, and I’ll see you back here, in about four weeks, for another round-up of what’s hot, and what’s not, to watch on television. Until then, see you around on the Forums. :)

Pooch

It's great to see your "coming up on TV..." posts again pooch. They have been sorely missed and I've often found myself at a loose end wondering what to watch In your absence.

I couldn't agree more with your comments about Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip being buried away by Channel 4. I think it's a terrible shame that such a wonderful if short lived show isn't being placed in prime time, especially when the only British show that can hold a candle to it is Spooks.

By the way has Journeymen already been cancelled having only 13 episodes?

NEW: The Sopranos – Midnight-1:15am

For that sir , I thank you . Have never seen a single ep ,and missed the start of the last re-run

For that sir , I thank you . Have never seen a single ep ,and missed the start of the last re-run

Hopefully this time they will run them all through, they stopped at the end of series 3 last time.

Dont forget you can see this wonderful program at a more reasonable time on More4 - its show at 22.00 hrs on a Thursday - i think they are up to about episode 15-16 on there.

(ITV3)

Sadly, they're showing Season 1 of Everwood again ('New to ITV3!') :(

& Season 3 did turn up on ITV1 a while back. I think it may have followed on directly from season 2, weekday lunchtimes one winter.

Yep thanks for the heads up Pooch !

Great list thank you for that. :smashin:

I wil be able to watch the Sopranos Eps I've missed and its good to see the new series of Bones is starting soon. Journeyman also looks intresting so will sky+ that as well.

Damn good to see 'Bones' coming back next week.

Regards

Hi All,

Thank You for the kind words, comments and clarifications!

Just a few addendums, though, for anime fans:

Sunday 4th November
NEW: Ghost In The Shell: SAC - 2nd Gig - 9:00-9:30pm

All-new to UK TV, the second half of the acclaimed Japanese anime TV series, gets its UK premiere. All 26-episodes are being aired, every day of the week, with same day repeats, at approximately 1am and 5am also. Showing uncut, in the original 1.85:1 Widescreen version with an English dubbed audio track only. Contains some bad language, violence, gore and brief nudity of a non-sexual nature. Certificate 15. (Anime Central - Sky EPG 199)

NEW: .hack//SIGN - 9:30-10:00pm
Another new anime show. Details as per above. Repeats air at 1:30 and 5:30am only. Certificate PG. Episode Listings can be found here. (Anime Central)

NEW: Wolf's Rain - 10:30-11:00pm
Another chance to catch this excellent anime horror/fantasy series, about a wolf that can communicate with human beings, whilst on the run. A much more mature show, than you might expect, in terms of plotlines and characterisation, with some blood, gore and violence. Certificate 12. Details as per above shows, but with repeats airing at 2:30 and 6:30am only. (Anime Central)

Tuesday 6th
NEW: Cowboy Bebop - 10:00-10:30pm

Considered to be the finest anime TV show ever made, with a music-score to die for from multi-award winning talent Yoko Kanno, gets a repeat run, from the previously defunct animation channel CNX. A superbly hilarious story about a futuristic bounty-hunter who is after anything and anyone he can make money off of, as well as being wanted by half of the galaxy himself, for various criminal acts. Stylish, clever, beautiful animation, and that kick-ass theme tune too! Contains some swearing, blood, gore and violence, plus some occasional sexual innuendo and nudity. Showing in an excellent English-language dubbed version, in the original 4:3 format. Certificate 15. Repeats at 2:30 and 6:30am each day. An episode list can be found here. (Anime Central)

Hi Pooch, do you know if what they previously aired is the 1st gig and this is a new series?

Hi Pags,

Yep, Anime Central has been airing Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex (also known as 1st Gig), on TV, and now they're heading into 2nd Gig.

Also, Bravo on Saturday 1oth November, is airing the World TV Premiere of "Afro Samurai", the (very) recently released anime DVD, starring Samuel L. Jackson in the titular role. It's an 18 certificate, and is showing in the original US dubbed version, but in a compromised 1.66:1 format, rather than the true 1.85:1 widescreen ratio. :(

Anyway, at least people can get to see it, before making a DVD purchase on a title that is relatively unheard of.

LFC,

Just for your flatmate (of course ;) ), the reason I know this, is because a) they bought the rights to it, and b) they've been repeating the original HSM film a few times over recent weeks.

Plus, I am the TV Guru, and I am never wrong! :rotfl: :smashin:
