Just noticed that since last night Comet have put up the price of their offer package on the Panasonic TX-P42ST31B from £549 to £599 they still include the two pairs of 3D glasses but what a rip off.

If anybody is going to buy this TV for Christmas i would go to JL who were price matching this model including the two pairs of glasses.

Comet sucks

Indeed, tis an old trick, Id not buy a TV from them or Currys anyway, JL or a specialist AV store are far better to buy AV kit from, the do still watch prices this time if year with all sellers, its an old trick.

Prices seem to be up and down like a yoyo at the moment. RS were offering the non 3D TX-L37E30B for 489-99 in store last weekend, which I succesfully retrospectively price matched with JL... I notice that it is now "phone for price"

The problem is that many prices are "offer prices" so they can put the price up agan at the end of the offer period.

Alan.

Yeah margins are lower now but people still arent buying stuff, retailers are having to be very cunning now to make ends meet. If your a canny shopper its great, but people need to look closer at prices now as these deals can come at the expense of other less canny shoppers.

John Lewis & Amazon have the best customer returns policies. Buying from either should minimise the hassle than can arise if your new TV is faulty, or you're disappointed with picture quality, etc & want a refund or exchange.

Retailers are entitled to end their offers whenever they want especially given the state of the retail market

JL will be charging £600 too if you want a match against Comet

Maybe Comet were matching another retailer who put their price up?

Might as well wait until Boxing Day or better the 27th (for John Lewis)

OP - didn't you buy the TV ages ago??

No, bloody car broke down had to use the TV money for the repair. Still will now wait until after Christmas.

Sounds like a plan :)

Be warned that the popular models may be out of stock in stores... mine was out of stock at my nearest JL store, (Chester) so I ordered online on the 10th of this month,, and they delivered on the 14th.... phoned with delivery day on the 12th, texted me the day before with time slot, and phoned when 15mins away... :)

Think it's a bit harsh to call it a 'rip off' - as is said above retailers change prices constantly.

Alternatively, models can be out of stock online and in stock in stores (different parts of the business). JL stores are not open on 26 December but I can't remember if their sale starts then...best buy a newspaper or two (red top and a broadsheet on Xmas eve to see what the deals are). Also, sign up for Richer Sounds newsletter so you get the sales flyer ahead of time

The LG w550 47" has gone up by £100 at Comet as well since last night.
IF you buy from Comet and the price goes down within 14 days they will give you the difference back..
