Hi all we bought a samsung smart LED last august, on buy now pay in 9 months and added 5 years warranty to the purchase...... We are still within the manufacturers warranty period and I am pondering just now if I could cancel the extra warranty and thus have less cash to fork out next month when I am due to clear the balance interest free????

You'd need to call the provider of the warranty, should be contact details on the paperwork.

I am not sure whether such policies are cancellable, when you read the paperwork (I presume the first thing you did) did it say whether you are entitled to cancel without penalty?

Comet went bust, I expect the administrators will be trying to get back everything can!?

As far as I recall, these policies were underwritten by a third party - someone like Domestic & General - and if so there is a contract entirely separate from the doings of Comet and its Administrators. Such things usually have a brief cooling-off period after which time you are in it for the duration. Such policies intentionally incorporate accidental damage cover from day 1 as well as repair cover from day {guarantee expiry +1} so that they can legitimately say you have been advantaged by the policy since you took it out, and hence have no grounds to cancel. You can always ask the policy issuer, though.......
