I ordered my Samsung SP46L6HX from Robertsons Online last Tuesday. I couldn't resist another look at my new baby and so I paid another visit to my local Comet.
While there, drooling, I was approached by a young Aussie lad who went on to give me a complete demo of the TV. He even used the Sagem high-def programme to show me how the SP46 performed in all its glory. I left feeling rather guilty having already purchased the TV elsewhere, but impressed with Comet.

Well that does sound impressive !

Obviously the young chap was actually making the effort to fully demonstrate the item & fulfilling his role as a proper sales assistant :D

It still puzzles me how many branches of Currys, Comet & the likes just cannot be arsed to set things up properly or even bother to demonstrate

If the Comet you went to is anywhere in the Yorkshire region I may nip over there myself for a demo !!!

West Yorkshire. Sorry. More like West Sussex.
    Crawley to be precise.

Comet at Gallows Corner Romford has a Sagem HD-D45, Pioneer 435 FDE and Hitachi 7200 side by side plus a load of other LCDs rigged up on a permanent HiDef demo via HDMI or DVI. The staff also know more than they did a couple of months ago. Maybe the coments on the forums are hitting home?

Things are looking up. I was in Comet & Currys in Chelmer village (Essex) yesterday and I spoke with 3 assistants all of whom seemed to know what a DLP TV was, what I meant when I talked about the 'rainbow affect' and understood the lip sync issues I'm having with my current set up.

I very nearly purchased the Sagem 45 as I believe I've resolved all my issues with this set, but I've waited as I want to see if the wife can cope with the 56" version.
I'm going to mock up the screen sizes today so we can see what the screens would really look like in our lounge, you can get fooled it thinking a larger screen is ok when surrounded by 42" TV's.
A bit of a 'blue peter' moment coming on I think (you'll need to be a certain age to get that joke :rotfl: ).

Comet in Birstall (Jcn 27) West Yorks has about 8 LCD/Plasma HD sets on display fed by by a PC and HDMI distribution box. I Can't say whether the staff know much, but at least you can see and compare HD displays.

    That's all that matters.
After all most forum members / general public will just be using Comet's showroom for a road test before ordering online.
If I worked in Comet I would concentrate on selling white goods to pensioners.
