I went to the pictures yesterday afternoon and watched The Wedding Crashers.

I thought that it was funny, but as I was walking back to my car I started thinking about it and other comedies that I've seen in the past couple of years and I don't think that many of them have got the mileage of say Life Of Brian, Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run.

Things like Dodgeball, American Pie, Scary Movie are funny but will they still be as funny in 20 or 25 years? Or have these only got a limited life span?

I have to disagree with you on slotting American Pie in that lot. It's a few years old now and still bloody hilarious. That's teenage, girls, college stuff which will always be relevant. Anything with a fart/crap joke will last a life time. Look at Blazzing Saddles.
