    Looks good.

I'm after a second DVD recorder for another room, and the spec is spot-on (I've no real need for 5.1 recording as I've nothing 5.1 to record and my HS2 already has DV-in.)

Although Panasonic produce machines like this, and better ,already in the US and Japan-the reason no mention is made yet is that,as the link shows, there is no official release date for the product. We could go on for hours about the 250Gb HDD machines that are elsewhere, but if it's not for the UK,there's little point

It could come in under the E100 price as it looks like a lesser machine - No firewire so we can only guess at the price. I think? that I saw an american version listed at $599 but I am probably wrong. This would equate to 599 pounds anyway as we are always taken for a ride with these things. Now its not like me to spread rumours is it.

Saw the EPG mention as well. One can but dream. Saw another interesting note else where that Pioneer have exclusive rights to the Tivo DVD recorder combo for a year. Just another dream for us I guess!

Unlike the E100, the E85 also doesn't have card slots which should further reduce the price. Since I don't need that or firewire, it looks very attractive indeed. RGB in, NTSC recording, time base corrector -- perfect, the one thing I'd change is that I'd trade RAM for RW. Still, there's a very good chance I'll be getting one of these, unless Pioneer soon comes out with their next generation.

This turns into a dilemma for me. My 30-days return period is about to expire on my DMR-E50. Thumbnails in direct navigator and better compression for long -ram recordings sounds sweet.
