Combining stereo digibox output into mono TV

    Apologies for the low-tech proposal here but it's only for a 14" bedroom portable.

    The Freeview box scart output contains composite video and L+R audio. The TV only has a phono video and single mono audio phono. Would a scart out to 3 phono in plus something like this do the job? (Picture from CPC's website):

    Is it okay for the left and right signals to be combined into one as simply as this? I presume this is how the scart inputs of newer mono TVs work.

    PS I'm currently using a broken VCR as an RF modulator that doesn't give great results.

    I hope you didn't buy it. Set the output on the box to mono and connect just the left audio plug (white one), this will give a mono signal in the TV
