Combining 2400ES with which 5.1 speaker package

I'm wondering what is the best speaker package to combine with my recently acquired 2400ES (it's currently hooked up to a Sony SA-VE305 speaker package from the old days which doesn't do it justice). I'm considering the following options:

  • Canton Movie 150QX
  • Wharfedale Diamond 10 HCP
  • Q Acoustics 2000 Cinema Package
  • KEF KHT2005.3
  • Monitor Audio BX2 AV Package
Any suggestions?

It depends more on your room than the amp as to which speakers to buy (though all have an influence on sound).

I've got my 2400 working with Acoustic Energy Aego-T (large-ish) satellites and a REL Q150e sub and the sound in a bedroom (used for games and cinema) is very good indeed.

If however you were looking to put this type of setup into a lounge, I'd suggest that a second sub and/or floorstanders would be better. Just depends on what you're after.

The room is my living room about 4,5m x 4m, but with a sloping roof so the ceiling is 2,5m high at one side and going to 5m at the other side.

Since floorstanders don't really suit in my current arrangement of the living room, i deliberately made the aforementioned selection of packages.

I'd be tempted to go with the Wharfedale, Monitor Audio or Q Acoustic solutions from your list. I'd heard the Kef 2005 and didn't really rate them, I've not heard the Cantons. Speakers are a really personal thing so it would be best if you could get to a dealers to have a listen.

What did you mean by that comment about the KEF? You didn't really rate them?

I had a demo of the Kef's at Sound and Vision Bolton. I'd previously heard the 3000 series eggs and liked them. The 2005's just seemed like a big compromise - harsher treble and not as much bass.
