Combine 5.1 Optical & HDMI video into one HDMI cable...

Active Member
Hi all...

I'm looking to combine 5.1 audio from an optical cable onto an HDMI cable.

So, I have...

- an optical cable carrying 5.1 sound
- a HDMI cable carrying 2.1 sound & video

I would like to end up with...

- a HDMI cable with video and 5.1 sound

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Many thanks in advance!

Hi thanks for that. I have been looking at them but have read elsewhere that they don't combine 5.1 and only 2.1 ??

I've sent an email off to someone that sells them on ebay so hope to find out in the next day or so...

Hi there,

You're looking for an audio embedder. We have one in the works.

There are others out there.

Remember that HDMI can only carry 2.1 or 5.1 at once. Limitation of the specification.

Hope that helps!

Many Thanks
